Dancing Through Life

I'm trying to be better about updating this thing regularly because when I go a few weeks I get very discombobulated!

So what's been going on in the world of Manda since we last spoke? Well, mostly just busting my ass over our movie! It's summer and ordinarily I'd be working--- every summer since I turned fourteen I've worked full-time, whether it was at the amusement park my grandma managed or at the used bookstore where I spent eleven years, but this is my first summer off since puberty and I'm really enjoying it. It's not like I spend all day in front of the TV either; I've been working on my house, cleaning it out, organizing for a garage sale, etc. as well as writing, working on the movie, scheduling photoshoots and running errands. I'm also trying to spend time with my grandma; this weekend would've been her 50th wedding anniversary if my grandpa hadn't passed away of pancreatic cancer in November 2012, and July will be the one-year anniversary of my mom's death. So yeah, it's going to be a little rough on the emotional front for awhile, but we're sticking together to get through it.

The movie has been going great, and I am so lucky to be working with such a terrific cast and crew. I got to pick out my own wardrobe, so it's been fun finding clothes that not only fit but are flattering too; I don't have to dress like 'the fat chick' necessarily for once in my life! So exciting!

We also went to Razzle Dazzle 2013, which is a big gay-pride block party in Dallas celebrating marriage equality! I got to rock my Violent Lips applique to give me some rad rainbow lips. I have always been an ally for equal rights and more than that, I've identified as some weird mixture of fluid sexuality since I was quite young. As a result, this is a cause that's near and dear to me and any excuse I have to attend a pride event, I'm there.

They were a bit tricky to apply at first (kept sticking to the 'wet' part of my inner bottom lip!), but once I got the jist of it I LOVED them. Got compliments all night long, too! And if a drag queen
praises your makeup, you take it, honey!

Very cute twinky boys and me!

Dear friends Sarah and Tommy, in the parking lot!

Still feeling good, running around on set in hot, sticky barns full of bugs and trying to keep from getting sunburned! My weight's holding steady at 248, which is strange but not entirely unexpected.

 On the set, June 2013.
